John Farrelly reappointed to lead Mental Health Commission

The Mental Health Commission (MHC) has reappointed John Farrelly as its chief executive for the next five years. Farrelly has 35 years of experience in health and social care services and has led the MHC since October 2018. He was responsible for enhancing the quality and safety of Ireland’s inpatient mental health services and overseeing the commencement of the Decision Support Service. The reappointment followed an independent recruitment process. The chairperson of the MHC expressed delight in having Farrelly continue to lead the organization and Farrelly stated his commitment to the ongoing transformation of Irish mental health services and the regulation of community mental health services.
