Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush University Medical Center announced new leadership roles for five orthopedic physicians, according to a press release.

Brian J. Cole, MD, MBA, sports medicine surgeon and managing partner of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, has been appointed to acting chair of the department of orthopedic surgery. Cole has held several leadership roles at Rush since joining in 1997. He replaces Joshua J. Jacobs, MD, who served as acting chair for 16 years. Jacobs will transition to a new role as director of the Rush Arthritis and Orthopaedics Institute, according to the release.

“I am incredibly grateful for the guidance of Dr. Josh Jacobs whose leadership, wisdom and dedication to research have helped propel Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush to its national reputation of excellence,” Cole said in the release. “This new leadership team will honor him by taking orthopedic research and the quality of care for our patients to the next level.”

Adam B. Yanke, MD, PhD, has been appointed vice chair of research in the department of orthopedic surgery at Rush. Yanke, a sports medicine surgeon, joined Rush in 2014. He serves as the director of clinical research for the department of orthopedics and the co-director of the cartilage restoration center at Rush, alongside Cole.

Kern Singh, MD, has been appointed vice chair of clinical affairs and director of the division of spine surgery in the department of orthopedic surgery at Rush. Singh, a long-standing professor, joined Rush in 2005.

Monica Kogan, MD, has been appointed vice chair of faculty affairs in the department of orthopedic surgery at Rush. Kogan, an associate professor and pediatric orthopedic surgeon, joined Rush in 2006. She serves as director of the orthopedic surgery residency program in the department of orthopedic surgery at Rush.

All changes are effective immediately, according to the release.
