The study found that there was a significant increase in orders of the mifepristone/misoprostol abortion pill combo from an online provider in the US after the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade was leaked and later announced in 2022. The orders decreased after the official announcement but have risen again due to uncertainty about access to the controversial pills. The study shows that there was a ten-fold increase in orders immediately after the leaked news about Roe v. Wade, with wealthy, urban and white women being more likely to order the pills in advance. This demand was motivated by a desire to preserve reproductive autonomy.
