Reproductive health has been a major issue since the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022. In 2023, some states enacted total bans on abortion, while others worked to protect reproductive rights. The Guttmacher Institute and NFPRHA found several wins in 2023, including second-highest number of abortion protections enacted and the approval of Opill, the first over-the-counter birth control pill in the U.S. However, there were also significant losses, such as 14 states having total abortion bans, and a lack of increased funding for Title X. In 2024, further challenges are expected, including an increase in laws restricting interstate travel for abortion and false claims about birth control. There will also be some efforts to protect reproductive health.
