Google has introduced a new suite of healthcare-focused generative AI models called MedLM, built on the Med-PaLM 2 medical AI system. There are two models within the suite, with the large one being used for complex tasks and the medium one for real-time application and integration into clinical workflows. The medium model has been tested by health systems, such as HCA Healthcare, to help physicians draft patient notes. Google has also been testing the models with medical research companies and consulting firms to improve patients’ access, experience, and outcomes. These AI models have the potential to make life easier for clinicians and improve healthcare delivery.
