Parkinson’s disease is a common, disabling condition in Australia with no known cure. Managing and treating pain symptoms is crucial, as 85% of patients experience some form of pain. The University of South Australia is researching the characteristics and treatment of pain in Parkinson’s disease to improve patient-centered pain care services. Pain, which can occur in muscles, joints, the nervous system, and internal organs, is a leading driver of reduced quality of life for people with Parkinson’s. The Australian Parkinson’s Pain Study, funded by The Hospital Research Foundation Group, is seeking participants to contribute their experiences of pain to develop better pain management strategies.
