A new meta-analysis from the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and Hackensack Meridian Health Research Institute shows a positive trending shift towards equity and inclusivity in clinical trials and medical research. The analysis of clinical trials from 2017 to 2022 including New Jersey patients reveals more diverse representation and better reporting of race and ethnicity factors. The majority of trials reported on race and ethnicity, and there was an increase in Black participants compared to previous data. However, the proportion of Asian and Hispanic descent was slightly lower. The study suggests that efforts to improve inclusivity in trials are having a positive effect.
