Anaesthetists feel broadly negative about associates, survey finds

A recent survey by the Royal College of Anaesthetists found that most anaesthetists have a negative view of anaesthesia associates (AAs). Consultants who regularly work with AAs have a more positive view, while those in training who have never worked with AAs hold the most negative opinions. The survey, conducted by Research by Design, had a 35% response rate with 6049 anonymous responses. Overall, 62% of respondents expressed a negative opinion of AAs, while 15% expressed a positive opinion. Consultants who worked with AAs daily or weekly were more likely to have a positive opinion. This survey was the largest of its kind on this topic.
