The FDA has approved expanded MRI labeling for Abbott’s Proclaim DRG neurostimulator system, allowing full-body MRI scans in patients with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) of the lower limbs. This eliminates the need to search for special MRI settings for the device. CRPS is a rare form of chronic pain that can develop after an injury, surgery, stroke, or heart attack. The DRG neurostimulation system has been shown to provide significant pain relief and improved quality of life for patients. With the expanded MRI capabilities, the system will allow full-body scans for new and existing patients within approved conditions, safe scanning of any body part with standard MRI scanners, and compatibility with 50cm SlimTip DRG leads.
