Metabolic Factors’ Link to Cancer Explained

admin

A new study examined metabolic syndrome trajectories and cancer risk, finding that adults with worsening metabolic syndrome over time are at increased risk for any type of cancer. Previous research has shown an association between metabolic syndrome and various cancers, but the reasons for this link remain unclear. The study of 44,115 Chinese adults over 9.4 years found that those with an elevated-increasing metabolic syndrome trajectory had higher risks of several cancer types. Chronic inflammation further increased cancer risk in individuals with persistently high metabolic syndrome scores. The study highlights the importance of managing metabolic syndrome to prevent cancer. Further research is needed to explore causality and develop targeted interventions.
