Tallaght University Hospital in Dublin will begin testing wearable devices for patients with severe asthma. The devices will be integrated into a digital platform and used by 50 patients on a trial basis. Patients will also receive a home spirometer to measure lung function. The wearable device will allow patients to record various health data, which will be used by the medical team to track their condition over time and allow for early intervention if needed. The project aims to improve asthma management and self-care. The initiative is supported by the Tallaght University Hospital Foundation and the Public Service Innovation Fund.
