Screening for Health-Related Social Resource Needs in Gynecologic Oncology

admin

A study in a gynecologic oncology clinic found that using an electronic medical record (EMR)–integrated system for screening health-related social resource needs (HRSN) resulted in improved patient reach compared to a paper-based system. The study aimed for a screening compliance rate of more than 90% and found that the rate increased from 52% with the paper-based system to 97% with the EMR-integrated system. The study included 5 cycles, with the use of tablets and the online patient portal to complete screenings contributing to the success of the new system. Researchers concluded that the new system successfully increased screening completion to over 90%.
