Yemen conflict “spells disaster for civilians,” say aid agencies

The recent escalation of conflict in Yemen is predicted to worsen the already dire humanitarian crisis in the country and may result in aid groups ending their operations there. The US and UK airstrikes in response to Houthi attacks on commercial ships have led to several international aid groups ceasing their work in western Yemen. Houthi leaders claim to be targeting Israeli ships or those headed to Israeli ports in solidarity with Palestine, but other reports suggest that ships with no ties to Israel have also been hit. This situation is likely to further exacerbate the crisis in Yemen and hinder efforts to provide aid to those in need.
