Progress on surgical hubs expected in 2024

admin

The Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, has announced the development of six new surgical hubs in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Waterford, and Limerick to reduce patient waiting lists for day-case procedures. The hubs are expected to be completed in 2024, with two in Dublin already in development. Mount Carmel in south Dublin, and the Swords Business Campus in Fingal have received planning permission and are in the tender process. Galway and Cork have also received planning permission with work underway, and planning applications have been lodged for hubs in Waterford and Limerick. The new hubs are modeled after the successful Reeves Centre at Tallaght University Hospital, which contributed to an 82% reduction in waiting times for day-case procedures.
