A University of Queensland research project is investigating the online influences that lead young people to start vaping and aims to create social media content to help them quit the habit. Dr. Carmen Lim will lead a five-year project to analyze pro-vaping content and explore young people’s attitudes towards vaping. The project plans to conduct focus groups and behavioral experiments to discourage young people from vaping. This research comes as a response to the increasing number of young people vaping in Australia, with over 20% of 14-17 year olds having vaped in the past 12 months. The project received funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council Investigator Grant Scheme.
