John Green, a popular novelist and YouTuber, has announced a public-private funding partnership with USAID and the Philippines to fight tuberculosis. Green, along with his family, will contribute $4 million of the $57 million in new funding to test and treat tuberculosis in the Philippines. His ultimate dream is to see a world where tuberculosis is no longer a public health threat. Green has been advocating for access to TB care, lobbying for corporations like Cepheid and J&J to lower their prices for diagnostics and therapeutics. His advocacy work aims to make TB eradication efforts more affordable and accessible globally.
