Silk Road Medical has launched a new tapered configuration of their transcarotid stent system in the U.S. This system is indicated for patients with carotid artery stenosis at elevated risk for adverse events from carotid endarterectomy. The Tapered Enroute Transcarotid Stent System provides additional configurations for tailored transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) with a short delivery system for precise stent placement. This new iteration of the device, approved by the FDA in 2014, offers more options to customize treatment to each patient’s anatomy, according to Joseph V. Lombardi, a professor and chief of vascular surgery at Cooper University Health Care.
