Alternative pharmacies like Costco, Amazon, and Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs are gaining popularity in the US. However, a recent analysis showed that many expensive generic medicines are unavailable, prices vary greatly, and savings are minimal. Out of 100 expensive generics, 20% were not available at some of these pharmacies. Among the available expensive generics, Amazon was the cheapest for 47%, followed by the Cuban company at 26%. For commonly used generics, 98% were widely available, with Costco offering the lowest prices for 31%, Amazon for 27%, and Walmart for 20%. Overall, pricing varied among these direct-to-consumer pharmacies.
