Controversies have also arisen over pharmacists refusing to fill prescriptions and the Affordable Care Act’s contraceptive coverage mandate. Efforts to establish “personhood” legislation at the state and federal levels would redefine various forms of contraception as murder. Some Republicans have questioned the value of birth control due to cultural implications.
