A study published in Arthritis Care & Research found that COVID-19 vaccination was not associated with flares of systemic rheumatic disease (SRD). The fear of disease flares has led to hesitancy among patients with SRD to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This study aimed to determine the association between COVID-19 vaccination and SRD flares. The research involved adult patients with SRD at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and found no evidence that COVID-19 vaccination was related to flares, regardless of the specific lookback window used. The study’s limitations included a single-center setting, demographic homogeneity, and potential selection bias.
