The Alliance of Age Sector NGOs conducted a review that found significant failures in delivering commitments for older people in Ireland. The review identified a lack of publication of waiting lists for housing adaptations, failure to translate the National Positive Ageing Strategy into action, and a lack of a plan to tackle loneliness and isolation among older people. As a result, the alliance is calling for the establishment of an Independent Commissioner for Ageing and Older People, as well as relaunching the National Positive Ageing Strategy. The Government has also set out plans to establish a Commission on Care for Older People to examine health and social care services and supports for older people.
