VIP Health System for Top US Officials Risked Jeopardizing Care for Soldiers

Top officials in Washington, including White House officials and senior military leaders, have been receiving preferential treatment through a little-known health care program run by the military. This has raised concerns as these privileges have potentially compromised care for other patients, including active-duty service members. The program, known as executive medicine, allows for special treatment such as jump-starting prescriptions, booking appointments through special call centers, and receiving escorts at military hospitals. A report by the Pentagon’s inspector general highlighted these practices and recommended establishing controls to ensure fair and equal access to care for all patients.
