Type 1 diabetes: Randox removes adverts after claims that it was using fear to sell genetic test

A diagnostics company, Randox Health, removed advertisements for its type 1 diabetes genetic test after complaints that it used fear tactics. The advertisements referred to type 1 diabetes as a “silent killer” and suggested it could be in your genes. The company claimed their test could determine future risk of developing the condition. The type 1 diabetes charity JDRF found the ads concerning and urged the company to reconsider their approach. Randox Health made the decision to pull the ads in response to the complaints.
