A study found that the triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) is associated with hypertension and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. Participants were recruited in China and evaluated for various TyG-related factors. Men had higher rates of hypertension and predicted CVD risk compared to women. TyG-WC was the best predictor of hypertension risk, while TyG-WHR was the best predictor of CVD risk. The study suggests that TyG and TyG-related parameters are independently associated with hypertension and CVD risk, with TyG-WC being the most effective in identifying hypertension and TyG-WHR being the most effective in identifying high cardiovascular risk. Further research is needed to confirm these findings.
