The increasing global population of patients with diabetic wounds presents a significant challenge, impacting patients’ quality of life and putting a strain on healthcare systems. Traditional wound treatment methods have limitations in drug delivery to the wound bed. Microneedles have emerged as a promising solution due to their efficient drug delivery capabilities and minimal invasiveness. A recent review summarized the materials, techniques, and mechanisms of microneedle delivery for diabetic wounds. The study highlights the potential of microneedles in promoting wound healing through various mechanisms and calls for further research in this area.
