The NCCN guidelines are updated frequently, in contrast to the less frequent updates from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). The guidelines aim to identify practices that can improve diagnostic accuracy and outcomes while considering emerging evidence, such as smaller surgical margins for primary melanomas.
