Most glasses wearers interested in contacts say their doctor never suggested them

The Contact Lens Institute’s “See Tomorrow” initiative revealed that nearly half of glasses wearers are interested in contact lenses, but only one in 10 were suggested them by their eye care provider. Survey results showed that patients were not trying contact lenses due to lack of information or recommendation from their eye care practice. Factors that would persuade patients to try contact lenses included doctor’s recommendation, proficiency in insertion and removal, trial lens opportunity, price range, and awareness of different types of contacts. The survey highlights the need for a collaborative approach between doctors and opticians to ensure patients are informed of all available options.
