High Levels Of Cancer-Causing Benzene Detected In Some Acne Products: Independent Lab Report

An independent lab report from Valisure found high levels of the cancer-causing chemical benzene in acne products containing benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is used to treat acne by reducing bacteria and causing the skin to peel. Tests showed that benzene can form in these products when stored at high temperatures, exceeding FDA limits by over 800 times. Benzene was detected in products from brands like Estee Lauder, Target, and Walmart. Valisure has called for a recall of these products and the FDA is investigating. Some companies have defended the safety of their products, while Valisure urges urgent action to address this issue.
