The app aims to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use by providing a reliable diagnosis of acute otitis media (AOM). AOM is commonly misdiagnosed, leading to ineffective or excessive antibiotic treatment. The AI tool analyzes short videos of the ear drum to identify AOM more accurately than trained clinicians. Initial testing showed high accuracy rates, outperforming many clinicians. The app has the potential to improve primary healthcare settings, support treatment decisions, and serve as a valuable teaching tool.
