Tailor fit digital health tech to the elderly’s needs: study

admin

A recent study in South Korea found that older adults, especially those who are frail, have different purposes and satisfaction levels in using healthcare apps and wearable health devices. Researchers surveyed 505 respondents, 30% of whom were considered frail, and found that healthy seniors were more likely to use healthcare apps for self-care and managing personal data, while frail seniors used them for healthcare information and guidance. Only 36 respondents used wearable devices, with healthy users finding them more convenient. With South Korea’s aging population, the researchers suggested developing technologies that consider the unique needs of older adults in order to increase the usage of digital health technology among this demographic.
