A group of bipartisan senators, including Minority Whip John Thune and Sens. Marsha Blackburn, John Barrasso, Debbie Stabenow, Mark Warner, and Catherine Cortez Masto, are beginning work on reform legislation for Medicare physician payments. They are aiming to address reimbursement issues and shift towards aligning payment incentives with patient outcomes. This reform is intended as a long-term solution to problems with Medicare’s physician payment structure and to update the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act. The senators will announce their intent to develop these changes on Friday.
