A new study on climate change resilient healthcare has received almost €2.5 million in funding from the Health Research Board. Led by Prof Deirdre Bennett of University College Cork, the program aims to prepare healthcare professionals to actively contribute to resolving the climate crisis. The study, titled ‘Educating Healthcare Professionals for Climate Change Resilient and Sustainable Healthcare Systems,’ is supported by the Medical Council and will explore how its outputs might influence future policy and integrate climate change and sustainability into doctors’ professional development. The goal is to create a healthcare system that is more responsive to climate challenges and contributes to broader sustainability goals, benefiting both patients and the planet.
