Digital health strategy to be published by end of March

The Government’s digital health strategy, delayed but finally set for release in early 2024, aims to address Ireland’s outdated health information systems. Calls for a new independent digital health agency have been made to manage the rollout of electronic health records. Prof. Martin Curley highlights the urgent need for modernization in the Irish health system, emphasizing the potential benefits of advanced digital health systems. Priority drafting of new legislation to facilitate the sharing of health information is also planned for the spring. The Irish Hospital Consultants Association stresses the importance of investing in a national electronic health record system for improved patient care and safety.
