New research led by scientists from Trinity College Dublin and Science Foundation Ireland’s FutureNeuro center has found a link between brain fog in long Covid patients and the disruption of blood vessels in the brain. This discovery may lead to targeted therapies for patients experiencing cognitive decline, fatigue, and brain fog as a result of long Covid. The study also suggests that similar mechanisms could be at play in the development of other neurological conditions triggered by viral infections, such as multiple sclerosis. The findings were published in the journal Nature Neuroscience, marking a significant advancement in understanding and treating post-viral neurological conditions.
