This discovery may lead to targeted therapies for patients experiencing cognitive decline, fatigue, and brain fog as a result of long Covid. The study also suggests that similar mechanisms could be at play in the development of other neurological conditions triggered by viral infections, such as multiple sclerosis. The findings were published in the journal Nature Neuroscience, marking a significant advancement in understanding and treating post-viral neurological conditions.
