Unsaturated Fatty Acid Intake Protects Against Insulin Resistance

admin

A study published in Lipids in Health and Disease found that a high intake of unsaturated fatty acids (UFA) in relation to total fat consumption is linked to a reduced risk for insulin resistance. The study used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) collected between 2017 and 2020 and included 7630 participants. Researchers found that a higher UFA intake was associated with lower blood lipid and glucose levels, and may improve glucose and lipid metabolism. The study also concluded that increasing the proportion of dietary unsaturated fat intake may be a protective factor against developing insulin resistance.
