The study also identified the presence of nanoplastics, which are believed to be more toxic. While the health impacts of microplastics are still under review, the International Bottled Water Association claims there is no scientific consensus on the potential health impacts of nano- and microplastic particles, and media reports about these particles in drinking water only serve to scare consumers unnecessarily.
