A study published in the Nutrients Journal reviewed evidence supporting adzuki bean supplementation as a way to prevent and manage type 2 diabetes (T2D). The researched found several research gaps in the current literature and stated that while adzuki bean has potential health benefits, more research is needed to confirm its efficacy in managing T2D. Evaluating the effects of adzuki bean consumption in humans is particularly necessary. Results from animal studies suggest that adzuki bean supplementation has shown benefits on T2D-related outcomes, comparable or better than traditional medications or low glycemic index diets. However, more human research is needed to confirm these findings.
