John Hedges | The BMJ

John Hedges had a successful career in both military and civilian medicine, thanks to a medical cadetship with the Royal Army Medical Corps. He was commissioned in 1969, completed his house jobs, and became the garrison senior medical officer in West Germany in 1974. He then trained at the Cambridge Military Hospital in Aldershot and achieved membership of the Royal College of Physicians. Throughout his career, he was able to balance both military and civilian medical responsibilities, creating a unique and fulfilling career path for himself.
