January 2024: Raising Awareness for Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s Awareness Month is a campaign led by the Alzheimer Society to focus on the importance of early detection, fostering a compassionate society, and promoting research for Alzheimer’s and dementia. It is essential to be aware of the early signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia since early intervention can make a difference. The Alzheimer Society provides support, education, and advocacy for those affected, including essential services, education, emotional support, and individualized treatment options. Although there is no cure for Alzheimer’s disease, several medications can slow its progression and manage symptoms. Research suggests that staying active, exercising, socializing, and brain training can help reduce the risk of developing dementia. In 2023, new drugs and research findings have emerged, providing hope for the treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
