Itchy skin? Possible atopic dermatitis? Lavender essential oil might be just what you’re looking for

Researchers studied lavender essential oils in suppressing atopic dermatitis (AD) and found they effectively inhibit this skin condition and that linalyl acetate is the main contributor. The study used cell lines to establish the anti-AD benefits without human or animal testing. The tested components notably inhibit Artemin, a skin-stretching neurotrophic factor, and air pollution-induced AD, highlighting the potential for treating AD without clinical testing. Lavender oils may also safely soothe itchiness and form a barrier against pollutants. However, the researchers propose caution when using them at higher concentrations. This research presents a potential natural, cost-effective, and accessible treatment for AD.
