Childhood obesity is a critical global health issue that can be prevented by ensuring that expectant mothers receive proper nutrition before and during pregnancy. A recent study published in BMC Medicine found that when mothers take supplements with probiotics, myoinositol, and vitamins B2, B6, B12, and D before giving birth, their children have less rapid weight gain and obesity by age 2. The study, involving 500 participants, revealed that children born to mothers in the supplemented group were only half as likely to be obese compared to those who received the standard supplement. Researchers plan to follow up with children participants between 6 and 8 years old to determine the long-term effects of maternal nutrition on their health.
