However, this transition has raised concerns about leaving behind digitally excluded and vulnerable individuals. The NHS’s push for “digital transformation” is at risk of worsening existing inequalities, particularly in accessing healthcare. Bola Akinwale, of the NHS, emphasized the importance of digital innovations being done in the right ways to empower people. NHS England has also warned about how digital exclusion can exacerbate health inequalities. With around 7% of households lacking home internet access, efforts are being made to ensure that digital inclusion is addressed to prevent compounding health disparities.
