The BMA has reached an agreement with the UK government on a pay offer for specialty and specialist doctors, with proposed pay uplifts of 6.10-9.22% for 2021 contracts based on experience and pay scale. SAS doctors on closed contracts can move to the 2021 contract if they wish. In addition, there is a 6% pay uplift recommended for 2023-24, with the potential for career progression and additional support for employers to create more specialist doctor roles. The offer also includes a 3% uplift for 2023-24 for doctors on the 2021 contracts. If accepted, the uplifts would take effect from January 2024.
