Research on social determinants of health for children and young adults with leukemia and lymphoma is necessary to improve care, as these factors impact outcome disparities for patients with hematological malignancies. Access to novel therapies, such as immunotherapies, targeted treatments, and diagnostics, is a significant issue, and disparities are driven by systemic racism and historic and contemporary inequities. To address these disparities, researchers should focus on understanding socio-contextual factors and clinicians should integrate social needs assessments into their everyday practices. Additionally, making clinical trials more accessible and generalizable is essential to close the disparities gap for underserved populations.
