A new report from KFF found that lower-income adults with employer-sponsored insurance face more challenges than their higher-income counterparts. They struggle to pay for healthcare services and often experience a decline in health. Data from a sample of 3,605 U.S. adults revealed that 31% of lower-income adults had trouble paying medical bills, compared to 13% of higher-income adults. Both groups experienced insurance problems at similar rates, but lower-income adults were more likely to delay care or have negative health outcomes. Reasons for these outcomes include high healthcare costs, lack of sick leave, and difficulty comparing insurance options. Overall, lower-income adults had more issues with their health insurance compared to higher-income adults.
