The CDC has warned of an urgent need to increase vaccine coverage for influenza, COVID-19, and RSV to prevent a strain on the healthcare system due to rising cases of respiratory illnesses. The surge in influenza, COVID-19, and RSV hospitalizations has prompted the warning, with 12 pediatric deaths from influenza reported. Low vaccination rates are a major concern, with millions fewer influenza vaccine doses administered this year, and low COVID-19 and RSV vaccine uptake. Healthcare providers are urged to recommend and administer the vaccinations to prevent severe illness and death. The CDC recommends flu and COVID-19 vaccines for everyone six months and older, and RSV vaccine for specific age groups.
