Conflict zones have caused a high spike in multidrug-resistant infections in Ukraine and Gaza. Historically, conflicts have always created perfect conditions for drug resistance. An increasing historical number of global conflicts signify that the rise of drug-resistant diseases may have been underestimated. The appearance and growth of drug resistance have mainly been driven by the misuse of antibiotics and the continuous decline in the supply of new ones. There is a potential for the escalation of drug-resistant bugs due to conflicts, leading to a global crisis. Medical settings affected by conflict often lack clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, thus increasing the risk of infectious diseases. Global Antibiotic Research & Development Partnership is working on new antibiotics for priority pathogens. Preventing drug resistance is essential in combating the rise of infectious diseases. All conflicts should be resolved to prevent the worldwide spread of infections.
