The REHAB-HF trial found that a physical intervention produced similar improvements in physical function and health-related quality of life (HR-QOL) among Black and White individuals. The study involved a translational, tailored, progressive, 1-on-1 multidomain physical rehabilitation intervention compared with attention control patients for older individuals hospitalized with acute decompensated heart failure. The intervention resulted in significant improvements in physical function and HR-QOL for both Black and White individuals. No significant differences were observed between the two races at either 3 or 6 months. The authors concluded that the intervention produced large improvements in physical function and HR-QOL regardless of race.
