The British Heart Foundation has reported that the number of premature deaths in England caused by cardiovascular disease has reached a 14-year high, signaling the worst heart care crisis in recent memory and a tragic setback in progress. In 2022, over 39,000 individuals in England died before the age of 75 due to cardiovascular conditions, the highest figure since 2008. This marks three consecutive years of rising premature deaths, reversing nearly a decade of improvement. The age-standardized mortality rate for cardiovascular disease in 2022 was 80 deaths per 100,000, the highest since 2011. This underscores a concerning trend in the deterioration of heart health in the country.
