A study found that the use of a predictive tool did not significantly affect patients’ willingness to undergo total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The researchers conducted a randomized clinical trial with 211 patients with knee osteoarthritis and found that access to an online tool did not decrease patients’ willingness to undergo surgery at 6 months. However, the researchers noted that predictive tools may still improve health outcomes for patients with knee osteoarthritis. Further research is needed to optimize patient decision-making in TKA. The study did not report any relevant financial disclosures for the researchers involved.
